There has been a US-spec E30 M3 lurking around Germany amongst some Americans for some time now. It needed some love, the paint was faded and the interior wasn't the cleanest but the dash had no cracks in it. The chassis/engine had around 150+k miles on it (IIRC). I first caught up with it five years ago, the seller was moving and had it stored at the local DIY-garage. I left a note on the windshield and got a call a some while later. It wasn't running (needed a battery) and was willing to let it go for $8k. I passed on the deal since I had my eye on my current E36 M3, which was better suited for my needs at the time. Oh how foolish I was.

The owner then moved to a different part of Germany and I lost track of it for a while. I was thinking about the same car a couple years ago when I was driving through the town I knew the owner had moved to. I turned another corner and there it was! The Zinnoberrot paint was a little more faded (stored outside, no garage space available) but I could recognize the US market sidemarkers anywhere. I left another note (crazy stalker, I know) and eagerly awaited. This time no call came.

So fast forward to now, I find it changed hands again almost a year ago. The new owner has plans for the beautiful car to bring it back to OEM glory. Can't wait to see what they have in store!

TL:DR.....almost bought E30 M3 for crazy cheap. Missed out, twice. Very jealous of new owner.
